Legio XXII Primigenia, also known as the Twenty Second Firstborn Legion, was raised by Caligula in 39 AD in preparation for an invasion of Britannia. Its emblems were a Capricorn and Hercules and its cognomen was an epithet of the goddess Fortuna.
