The Opiconsivia was a festival celebrated on 25th August in honor of Ops, the goddess of agricultural resources and wealth. The festival marked the end of the harvest and was a time to give thanks for the bounty of the land.

Date: 25th August
Deity: Ops
Observances: Games, adornment of horses and mules.

Ops was a chthonic goddess, associated with the underworld and the earth. She was considered the protector of crops and the guardian of stored grain. Although Ops is a consort of Saturn, she was closely associated with Consus. Consus is therefore thought to be an alternate name of Saturn in the chthonic aspect as consort.

The Opiconsivia was overseen by the Vestals, the priestesses of Vesta, the goddess of the hearth. The Flamines of Quirinus, the Sabine god associated with Mars, also played a role in the festival. The festival included a chariot race in the Circus Maximus, and horses and mules were adorned with flowers.
