Cercopes

The Cercopes were a mischievous duo, more monkey than man, who plagued Lydia with their thievery.

They even dared to steal Heracles’ weapons! Surprisingly, the mighty hero found their antics so amusing he let them go. However, their luck ran out when they crossed Zeus. The enraged god turned them into monkeys (or perhaps stone!), a permanent reminder of the consequences of unchecked trickery.
