Veteris
Veteris, a mysterious Celtic god, is known from numerous inscriptions found throughout Roman Britain.

Exclusively dedicated by male civilians, the cult of Veteris gained particular popularity among Roman soldiers during the 3rd c. AD. Why the god resonated particularly with soldiers remains unclear, but perhaps his attributes were seen as beneficial in wartime.
Unlike most Celtic deities absorbed into the Roman pantheon, Veteris’ name has no known Roman equivalent. Interestingly, he was invoked alongside another local god, Mogons, at Netherby.
